The Dubuque Symphony Orchestra Ultimate Rock Hits Concert continues this year, once again hosting a Friday night and Saturday night performance.

DSCF1696The concerts will be 8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 19 and Saturday, Jan. 20, 2017. Runde Auto Group is proud to be the exclusive sponsor of this unique event!

“This year’s music has great strength and power behind it,” said Joie Booth, show co-founder, coordinator, and vocalist.

“Music that makes you drive your car a little bit over the speed limit or forces you to run a little farther. Music that lights you on fire and inspires you to reach the next level!”

The Dubuque Symphony Orchestra will present a symphonic rock experience that you won’t see anywhere else.

“We are always excited to bring in new singers, expanding our reach into the wide range of talented rockers in this region, and bringing in their devoted fans as well,” said William Intriligator, Music Director and Conductor of the Dubuque Symphony Orchestra. “Emily Webb from Few Blind Mice and Katie Keoperlich from Boogie Monster join us this year and we also welcome back Joie Booth, Adam Beck and Lexi Parr.”

The concerts will feature chart-topping hits from the 1970s to the present, and include legendary songs that are instantly recognizable.DSCF1942.JPG

“I’m really excited about the mix of songs,” William said. “We have a wide range of styles and time periods represented.   Many favorites by bands like Volbeat, Alice In Chains, Kings of Leon, the Doors,  Bruno Mars and the late great Tom Petty. We have some exciting orchestra features planned, as well!”

Music in the Gardens begins June 7!

Music in the Gardnes

The Dubuque Arboretum & Botanical Gardens has been hosting summer musical performances for more than 20 years and this year will be no different!

Music in the Gardens, the arboretum’s free weekly summer concert series, begins June 7 and runs through Aug. 30. Performances this year will include Jim Busta’s polka band, Hunter Fuerste’s American Vintage Orchestra, the Kids From Wisconsin, a Beatles tribute, the Ridge Rangers, and more.

“We have an amphitheatre that projects the sound, people can get up and dance to the music, and we learn more about local artistic talent,” said Sandi Helgerson, the executive director of the arboretum. “The music venues from week to week are very diverse and there are also opportunities to explore the gardens before the event.”

Don’t forget to bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on.

“Some people bring their own picnic dinner or wine,” Sandi said. “There will also be food available for purchase from HyVee.”

In the case of rain, about 100 people can fit under the pavilion. The bands will play rain or shine.

Sponsors make free admission possible, and Runde Auto Group is proud to sponsor Ralph Kluseman’s Beatles tribute at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 30!
