Jason Zuck – Runde of Platteville’s Newest Salesman!

Jason Zuck

Sitting down and talking with Jason made me think two things.  1)  “Man, this guy is super nice” and  2)  “This person is one of the most straightforward people I’ve met”.  Two great qualities to have as a salesman. If you had the privilege of working with or buying a vehicle from Jason, you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about. For those of you who haven’t had that privilege yet, here’s a little insight into the life of Jason:

What led you into Runde’s?
I’m from Decorah, Iowa and my wife is from around this area (Mineral Point). We moved this direction and I was trying to find work. I always worked in sales and I had friends back home that were into car sales so I thought I’d give Runde’s a try. Sold a few vehicles so far, it’s been great.

Have you heard of Runde’s before?
Oh yeah. My wife’s relatives and people I’ve met have always said good things about Runde’s.

What were you doing before?
I was the manager of a retail appliance and electronics store for 15 years.

How do you like the automotive industry?
It’s fun, it’s different, it’s interesting! I’ve been in the appliance industry so long that I had all of those products memorized but now I have a whole new set of vehicles from 3 different makes to memorize. Just trying to wrap my head around all the different models. The guys around here are very knowledgeable so any question I have is answered right away.

What are your past times and hobbies?
We like camping, being outdoors, I love golf. My wife is a huge Green Bay Packer fan. I personally like the Washington Redskins, so I’m kind of a lone wolf around this area. I’m a big Hawkeye fan as well.

So for the upcoming Packers vs. Bears game, which team are you going to be rooting for?
I’ve got to go with my wife’s team, the Packers.

What’s your wife’s name?
Amy. We’ve been married since ’08.

redHow’d you guys meet?
Actually, through the appliance industry. She was filling in for a lady that was on maternity leave, then she left, but we met again and hit it off from there.

Any kids?
One, his name is Tobin, he’s 8. He’s in the second grade, going to school in Mineral Point.

Any pets?
We have a cat and a Shih Tzu, he’s a little ankle bitter. The cat outweighs the dog, so it’s pretty strange.

Do you have a favorite hang out spot?
Not yet. We are still getting acquainted to this area. But in the short time I’ve been here I really like Steve’s Pizza. We have friends in Madison, WI so we go up there every once in a while to hang out.

Do you have a favorite vehicle?
I love the GMC Denali Edition. I like the Crew Cab Pickups too. My wife more so likes the SUV types.

Any vacations planned?
We are going to be planning a trip to Florida to see some family and go to some attractions like Disney. Other than that we just try to be outdoors as much as possible, camping and that sort of thing.

Tin_CupDo you have a favorite movie?
Tin-Cup.

Favorite actor?
Harrison Ford.  Star Wars sparked my interest in him. He was great in Indiana Jones as well.

Favorite musician?
It’s really hard to pick one but I like Rock, classic and new alike. I listen to Sublime, Nirvana, Tom Petty, etc.

Do you play any instruments?
I don’t. When I was young I had a guitar and always wished I would have kept up with learning and playing it. But now my son just picked up a guitar and he’s been doing some lessons.

Favorite restaurant?
The Melting Pot in Madison, WI. It’s so good. It’s a fondue dinner. You leave feeling very full.

Glass half full or half empty?
Half full. Always have to be optimistic.

Most memorable experience in a car or truck?
I grew up on a farm and my dad had a Chevy single cab ½ ton pickup. In the wintertime he would attach a rope with a big inner tube at the other end to his truck and have all of us kids hang on while he drove around. Little things like that are the greatest memories.

If you were to win the lottery, where would be the first place you’d travel to?
Fiji.  My wife and I have always wanted to go there. Maybe on our 10 year anniversary we will finally go.  I just want to see that type of the world – Fiji, New Zealand, etc.

Why do you believe people should choose to come to Runde’s over another dealership?
It’s the people. It is very personal and down to earth. It’s not-high pressure and it’s all about the service and getting people what they want, not what they don’t need.

What can you offer as a salesman?
Hopefully I can make some great relationships and good friends. I don’t believe in being like a “hawk” and being in my customer’s face. I want my customers to be comfortable.

Some holiday’s are coming up, what are your favorite holidays?
Halloween is always a fun one. My wife and I try to dress up and have fun. One time my wife and I were in Minneapolis and we stayed at a hotel, the next thing we knew there was a line of zombies walking through. They call it a “zombie walk” and we thought we’d like to be part of something like that. My wife is already anticipating putting up the decorations and stuff into the house we haven’t even moved into yet, so she’s really excited for it.

That’s all the questions I had for you Jason. Thank you for letting the world get to know you better and welcome to the Runde’s Family!
