Rosie and Leo Heid – A New Ride for Mrs. Heid

Leo and Rosie Heid live out just west of Dyersville.  These high school sweethearts have conquered the test of time with their love for for eachother for more than 45 years.  Read on to learn more about the Heid’s, how they stumbled upon us, and how their experience with Runde’s went.

What brought you into Runde’s Today?
We were looking for a different vehicle and we saw the Runde’s ad in the paper. We sold our Impala to one of our kids and needed to get something to replace it so we picked this up. I prefer something like an Equinox or an SUV that’s a bit easier to get in, but she likes this Malibu. She’ll be driving it mostly, anyway.

So it’s your car, then?
*Laughs* I guess.

Any specific need for the car or just a daily driver?
Oh, just to get about in the country, but mostly to go into town to get groceries, see people and that kind of stuff.

Why Runde’s instead of a different dealer?
Rosie: He came over here yesterday and saw a lot of nice vehicles here.
Leo: Yeah, there is quite a nice selection here, whereas a lot of dealers don’t seem like they have much. I’ve been looking around at different places but I thought we’d probably be better off getting something here.

Al Kloft of Runde Pre-Driven

And you ended up with Al Kloft… What did you think of Al?
Well I actually talked to him about five years ago, I think we were looking for a car then, too. But I remember liking him back then, as well.

What would you give your experience here at Runde’s on a scale of 1-10?
10 Being high?
Yep.
I’d give it a 10. They seemed like the very friendly sort. I was well satisfied with the way they dealt with us. They let us take the car home with us the same day instead of having to come back a different day, which we thought was great.

How many kids do you have?
Seven.
Seven? Wow!
Yep, all grown up now. Can’t afford that now-a-days.

How long have you two been together?
46 years.

Do you remember your first date together?
We were in the same grade in highschool. I think we went out to a movie.

What do you guys like to do in your spare-time?
Hang out with the kids usually. We go out every so often to get dinner and whatnot. We have nine grandkids… we’re going to have to make our house bigger so we can fit them all in during the holidays!

Are you guys looking forward to the Fall or Winter?
This summer has been terrible! We kind of enjoy the winter, we like the cooler air.

Do you have any pets?
We have outside cats.

If you were to win the lottery, what would you do with the money?
Probably wouldn’t do anything too much different. Give the kids some, buy new vehicles instead of used ones, upgrade machinery, travel more, get a nicer house… stuff like that.

Where would you go if you could travel anywhere?
Alaska. Someplace where there’s nice scenery. Maybe Hawaii to see what it’s like. This year we went to Boston to pick up our daughter and bring her home.

Is your family scattered throughout the states?
Now that we brought our daughter back from Boston, they all live in Iowa. We brought the last one home. Some live in Des Moines, others in Cedar Rapids, North Liberty and Swisher.

What is the most significant invention that was created during your time?
Invention? There was a lot of ’em! I think they invented the car and airplane when I was growing up??!!   But I suppose it kind of amazed me when they started going to the moon. The computer technology stuff is pretty significant too with all the GPS’s and stuff like that now.

That’s all the questions we had for you guys. Thank you very much for your time and enjoy your Malibu!
