GM Cruzes to the Top in US Sales

For the first time in many years, a US automaker has topped the charts for passenger car sales. The Chevrolet Cruze was named the best-selling car in the United States for the month of June, knocking previous chart toppers, like the Toyota Camry and Honda Civic, out of the way.

This blast to the top follows Chevy’s parent company GM’s emphasis on smaller, more fuel-efficient passenger cars.  The Cruze not only was the best-selling passenger car, but also was the third-best seller overall in the US, Following behind the Ford F-Series, and the Chevy Silverado which is still number one.

The Cruze is already preparing for their next advancement to help increase their popularity across the US. How do you make a best-selling car even better? How does 50 mpg sound?

Though it won’t hit showrooms until at least 2013, the 50 mpg diesel Cruze will help GM to meet more difficult fuel requirements. The new model is expected to use the 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder engine, giving it not only great mileage, but great power. The diesel Cruze is planned to be built-in Lordstown, Ohio, near Cleveland.

Whether it is chart topping sales, or new, more eco-friendly engines, Chevrolet and GM continues to stand above the rest of the market with its vehicles.
