Preformance, Speed, Style, Safety: The 2011 Buick Regal

In 2010, the Buick Regal was recipient of the European Car of the Year award. A year later and the 2011 Regal is already creating some serious waves through its creative design, redesigned engine, and possible GS release in the near future.

The Regal is more compact than its larger sibling, the Lacrosse, but offers three more inches of leg-room in the rear seats, and additional headroom for taller passengers.

Comfort may be great, but what makes this car into a sport sedan? It could be its compact 2.4L four cylinder engine, or possibly its seamless shifting from its phenomenal transmission. If it isn’t either of those, it could possibly be the redesigned sport suspension, which allows any driver to glide around most sharp turns. All of these components keep the Regal sporty and youthful.

There are also plans for Buick to release the Regal GS, which would offer a larger, reconstructed engine, a 6-speed manual transmission and 19” wheels with 14” sport rotors – all on a Buick!

Power, speed and agility mean nothing unless your car is able to do it all safely, and Buick has made sure that the Regal does not fall, in any sense of the word. The 2011 Regal recently earned the IIHS Top Safety pick, after doing an outstanding job in a series of crash tests.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) sent the Regal through a set of difficult tests including a 40 mph off-set head on crash, side impacts, and a rollover roof test. In all of the tests, the results showed an extremely low risk of serious injury. To pass the roof test, the vehicle’s roof has to be able to support four times the weight of the vehicle. The Regal surpassed the test by being able to support almost five times its weight!

In all aspects, the Regal is out to impress, something that should not be missed by anyone.
