Peg Cornils – Composed of Heart and Soul

IMG_3463It was a cold and rainy day at Runde’s on the day I met Peg Cornils.  While other folks were  inside — safe from the harsh elements of nature, Peg was out and about — or on the go as one might say.  Peg’s not afraid of the elements of nature — she digs Elements.  Actually, I was able to stop Peg just before she drove away in the Honda Element she purchased this week at our PreDriven store in Hazel Green, WI.  We chatted for a spell and I learned how her experience here at Runde’s was. All in all we shared some jokes and had a really nice conversation.  She’s a definitely a lady on the go and she needed a vehicle that could keep up with her active life — the Element should do the trick.

Let us into who you are, Peg. Where are you from and what do you do?
I’m from Sterling, Il. I live in Platteville now and I used to live in Dubuque. I work at the University of Wisconsin (UWP) and used to work at Clarke College.

IMG_3464What led you to Runde’s?
I liked the website. The pictures and everything from the website drew me in. So I decided to give you guys a call and I talked to Al Kloft.

Now, try to be as nice as you can with this next question… How did you like Al Kloft, your salesman?
He’s full of energy; he’s definitely a character; he knows how to sell cars and I know I can trust him. If anything were to be wrong with the vehicle or if things aren’t right he’ll take care of me.
That’s a little TOO nice for Al, he needs a little tough love sometimes.
Ohhh no, Al is really a great guy!

On a scale of 1-10, with 10 being the highest and one being the lowest, what would you rank Runde’s
I’d give it a ten. Everything was answered quickly and correctly, it was a great experience.

What vehicle did you end up purchasing?
I got the ’05 Honda Element. Runde’s gave me such a great deal with the vehicle, I felt it was definitely a score. It’s great to have something all-wheel-drive before winter hits.

What do you like to do in your free-time?
I’m a musician. I play the flute and piano.

Have any big concerts?
I’ve actually been all over the world playing the flute. From Los Angeles to Chicago to Florida. I played at Carnegie Hall two years ago and I’ll play there again in March. I was just asked to do a flute audition for the MET (Metropolitan Opera) orchestra in the beginning of November… I’ll be taking the Honda with me.
Wow… that’s quite an impressive resume… best of luck with all of your future endeavors.

Do you have children?
Nope, I do have 5 cats though. Cats are awesome; I can haul them everywhere with me.

What do you like to do around the area?
I’m an avid tennis player. It takes a lot of my free-time. I also like to compose music and travel.

Do you have a favorite piece of music?
I love all types of music. Especially if the music comes from the soul … from the heart. I’m into all kinds, including rap.

What is the one concert that sticks out the most in your mind?
I did a concert with Mstislav Rostropovich (Slava) who is a famous cellist has since past. After we finished he asked me to stand with him in front of the audience, and I just started crying, it was an overwhelming experience.

Speaking of evoking strong emotions, what is your favorite movie?
I liked the “Killing Fields.” It’s really rough, but definitely worth seeing — it will change your life. I also liked “My Life in Ruins” and “Young Frankenstein.”

Do you have any guilty pleasures in music? Music that might not be the most skill-based but you like anyway?
I love Pink Floyd….
How about like Britney Spears? No.
Ricky Martin? No.Christina Aguilera? No.Not Beyonce, either.

Who were you rooting for in the Packers vs. Vikings game?
The Packers. It was very upsetting game!

If you were to win the lottery what would you do with the money?
I would build a performing arts center at UWP and give scholarships to needy music people.

Any last comments?
I had a great experience, hope to do business with you guys again!
